John Walker, also known as USAgent, is a complex character in Marvel Comics, primarily associated with Captain America.
Initially introduced as Super-Patriot, Walker publicly criticized Captain America, embodying a more aggressive, jingoistic version of American ideals. He was secretly chosen by the U.S. government to replace Steve Rogers when Rogers briefly relinquished the Captain America mantle.
During his time as Captain America, Walker's brutal methods and unstable personality led to several controversial incidents, highlighting the difference between a symbol and the ideals it represents. He was eventually stripped of the title.
Afterward, he was given a new identity and costume as USAgent, working for the government as a superhero, often on black ops missions. He's typically portrayed as a well-meaning but flawed individual struggling with his past actions and a desire to prove himself a worthy hero, often teetering between patriotism and recklessness.
